Sedation Dentistry In Washington DC

Ease and Tranquility Through Any Procedure

If you have had a difficult or distressing dental experience, we are here to help. Dr. John Kling’s empathetic approach puts even the most nervous patients at ease so they can receive the care they need.

We also offer sedation dentistry to soothe even the tiniest bit of stress and erase any discomfort. And while you are not actually asleep during your procedure, you may feel as rested as if you have had a nap one treatment is completed.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

We offer two types of sedation dentistry to keep you comfortable – Nitrous Oxide Sedation and Oral Sedation

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide, or “laughing gas”, is a gentle way to help ease mild anxiety surrounding dental treatment and the most popular form of sedation in dentistry today. Nitrous oxide is very safe, predictable, and you can usually drive yourself home following the appointment.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral sedation or Anxiolysis, is very easy and requires no needles. You simply take a little pill before your appointment and arrive in a state of deep calm and sleepiness.

Sedation dentistry works so well, not only because it reduces anxiety and pain, but also because it helps your muscles relax and dental anesthetics work better on a relaxed body.

Who can Benefit from Sedation Dentistry?

Some people have a terrible time getting comfortable in a dental chair. TMJ, Arthritis, Fibromyalgia – really any condition that causes physical pain, even something as simple as a sore arm or an aching back – can make sitting in a dental chair for more than a few minutes very difficult. We love being able to offer our patients comfort and relief with sedation. Elderly patients or patients with ADHD can sit restfully though any procedure or take a nap while dentistry is performed. It makes even the longest visit feel like it took just a few minutes!

Even if you aren’t nervous about dental care and don’t feel the need for sedation dentistry, Dr. Kling’s artful approach and careful communication make every dental visit a creative and fulfilling experience.

This is relaxation dentistry at its finest.
