Washington DC Bruxism Treatment

Relief from Tooth Clenching and Grinding

Life in and around Washington DC can be stressful, and many of our patients take it out on their teeth! They grind and clench in their sleep, while driving or when situational tension rises and it wears down enamel and sometimes causes them to break!

Though stress is one of the most common causes, it isn’t the only cause of tooth grinding or bruxism. Some people develop tooth grinding because of medication, health conditions, caffeine, even a bad bite.

But whatever is causing you to grind your teeth; it can ruin your smile and cause all kinds problems such as TMJ disorder and broken teeth.

What is Tooth Grinding or Bruxism?

Bruxism, or teeth grinding, is unconsciously clenching or grinding or biting down with too much force at times when you wouldn’t normally be chewing or biting anything, such as when you are sleeping or working.

Many people grind their teeth and never realize it until serious pain or damage results or a bed partner lets them know that they are doing it. In fact, partners are often the first to realize that nocturnal bruxism is occurring.

What Can Dr. Kling Do to Help Me?

We can fit you with a custom-made bruxism guard to reduce the damage to your teeth from grinding or clenching and relieve your TMJ pain. While there are many appliances available, we often use Dr. Eubank’s E- Appliance. The E-Appliance is an excellent guard that is not only comfortable, it does not need to be adjusted as it wears. This appliance is self-adjusting, does not produce dental interferences and keeps your joints in the most natural position. With the E-Appliance, the more you wear your appliance, the more you protect your teeth – and the better you feel!

Patient Testimonials

My family have been patients of Dr. Kling for more than 25 years. Dr. Kling is an outstanding dentist. His staff is wonderful and it is always a pleasure to visit the office. I used to fear going to the dentist, but after my first visit with Dr. Kling, I no longer feared going to the dentist.
