Alexandria TMJ Disorder Treatments

How We Stop Your Pain and Help You Find Welcome Comfort

We usually start by creating an occlusal guard to help relieve your TMJ pain. This guard is an acrylic jaw-repositioning appliance that eliminates discrepancies in your bite for balance and comfort. As your jaw position improves, we will adjust your splint for optimum comfort and effectiveness.

We can also treat TMJ pain with occlusal equilibration/stabilization and restorative dentistry. Think of your jaw as a chair with one short leg – you can sit on it, but it can be straining to maintain your balance. If the chair legs are evened, sitting is once again easy and relaxing.

In equilibration/stabilization, we will recontour your teeth and even out areas of your bite that are causing imbalance and strain, eliminating any interference and ensuring a better fit between your upper and lower teeth. Restorative treatments such as adding resin material, dental crowns or porcelain veneers can also be used to reshape, balance and strengthen your bite.

Our TMJ disorder patients are amazed at how quickly they find relief and can get back to living a full – and pain free – life again.

CranioSacral Therapy for Added Relief

Some patients need a little bit more help to find total relief. Many of these patients have a difficult time with stress release and this exacerbates their TMJ disorder. This tension and stress continues to tighten tissues and begins to affect even the brain and spinal cord.

For them, we suggest CranioSacral Therapy to release tensions deep in the body. This tension release helps relieve pain and dysfunction. CranioSacral Therapy is a light touch therapy, so even our most sensitive patients can benefit from it.

This therapy helps free the central nervous system to its proper function. If you feel that CranioSacral Therapy could benefit you, we can refer you to one of our trusted practitioners.

Patient Testimonials

My family have been patients of Dr. Kling for more than 25 years. Dr. Kling is an outstanding dentist. His staff is wonderful and it is always a pleasure to visit the office. I used to fear going to the dentist, but after my first visit with Dr. Kling, I no longer feared going to the dentist.
